Dainese was created by Lino Dainese in 1968 after a trip to London. Inspired by the leathers worn by Vespa riders of the day, Dainese returned to Italy and began manufacturing protective gear for motorcyclists, starting with a pair of motorcycle trousers. Partnerships with riders soon followed, along with more protective gear, like the first back protector ever invented in 1979.
